About the project

Democracy deserves public measurement.

Democracys.org is an independent educational beta built to make comparative democracy evidence legible, inspectable, and useful without turning one number into a political verdict.

01

Mission

Help anyone ask better questions about who holds power, how it is constrained, whether people can participate, and how those conditions change over time.

02

Editorial posture

Nonpartisan does not mean neutral about democratic rights. The site applies the same published standard to every political system and distinguishes measured evidence, normative choices, and interpretation.

03

No hidden authority

The score is a Democracys.org transformation of V-Dem data. It has not been endorsed by V-Dem or externally peer reviewed. Version 1.0 remains explicitly beta until independent review is completed.

04

Automation disclosure

The initial site, data transformation, and explanatory structure were produced with AI assistance and checked against named primary sources. Country-specific causal narratives are intentionally absent pending human review.
